The Extremely Vulnerable elderly (EVIS) Care rendered medical services and follow up for effected Elderly in Blue Nile State. UNHCR in collaboration with AORD provided the affected extremely vulnerable elderly with comprehensive medical services and helped them to be treated in the hospitals and cured from different diseases. The EVIS as a model of UNHCR covered four communities: AGudi in AlTadamonlocality,ElSheedAfndi of Bau locality,AlAzaza of ElRoseries locality and ElDrwha of ElDamazin locality of BNS. The doctors and their supporting staff enabled all the elderly patients to receive medical treatment in the hospitals. Below is a description of the activities undertaken by the hospitals, and the services rendered; as well as the outputs and recommendations.
Description of the Activities Undertaken:
• AORD protection and monitoring team conducted assessment study for the six communities in the six localities to ensure care services for the most affected elders. Also AORD protection and monitoring team measured critical diseases among more than 350 of individuals’ in urgent need for medical services.
• For the patients selection AORD participated by the rapid assessment in the different communities in the six localities of the Blue Nile State for determining eyes diagnosed. Most of the patients are suffering from CATRACT & GLUCOMA diseases which cause blindness in the Blue Nile State. The life in these communities is roughly and faced poverty.
• The EVIS clinics mainly targeted elder patients who were above sixty 60 years. All of them with low socio-economic status. In these clinics the doctors supported the patients smoothly and tried to render medical services in time
• Work starts from 8 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, and during the whole week. The results in these clinics showed that almost more than 80% of the patients suffer from OSTEOARTHRITIS .76 patients were hypertensive, and 41 patients suffer from URINAY. In addition to that TRACTINFECTION, 16patients MALARIAINFECTION,13 patients GASTROENTERITIS, 20 patients DREWMONIA and HEPATOCELLULUR CARCINOME one patients .
Output of the Activities
• Some elders received medical services in ELBASAR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION. This hospital called MAKKA EYE COMPLEX which worked as charity hospital in the program of blindness in the Blue Nile State.
• In the clinics of MAKKA EYE COMPLEK the received vision, eye calculation and B-Scan in general. Then the doctors during the clinics classified the patients into two groups. About 17 patients received PHACO treatment, 2 patients TRABUTE and one patient TRABE operations.
• The number of elder patients treated in Mecca hospital was 22 patients.
• The number of elder patients treated in Damazeen hospital was 100 patients, most of the suffered from hypertension and diabetes.
